WHAT WE DO
Clemson University Tigers for Tigers is dedicated to conserving our mascot in the wild and ensuring its ethical treatment in captivity. We support many organizations through donation and volunteering that help us make this goal real.
In order to save our mascot in the wild, we support Tiger Trust located in India, where the highest population of tigers live. You can learn more about how supporting local NGOs makes a difference here:
To protect the integrity of our mascot in captivity we support Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoos and Global Federation of Animal Santuaries (GFAS) accredited sanctuaries. These organizations are dedicated to animal welfare and only represent the best of the best. To learn more about these, please follow the links below:
To raise funds for these amazing organizations we hold two major philanthropy events a year. We have the Wing Eating Contest (WEC) in the fall semester and a 5K Run/Walk in the spring semester.
Wing Eating Contest
The Wing Eating Contest is sponsored by T4T during National Tiger Awareness Week. Each year we have participants race to finish their wings before the other participants. The contest consists of two rounds of timed speed-eating, then a final championship round. We also have team trivia to get everyone involved in on the fun. Money raised from the WEC often goes to support the captive tiger side of our mission because we often take a fall or winter trip to volunteer at zoos or sanctuaries. To learn more on how to sign-up for the next WEC, to sponsor the next WEC, or any other ideas please email:
Participants race to finish their wings during the 4th Annual Chicken Chowdown.
Annual 5K Run/Walk
Every year T4T holds a charity 5K to raise money for an international conservation group that supports wild tiger populations.
This year our race is being held in the beautiful Clemson Experimental Forest on April (Date TBD). All ages and abilities are welcome. Race day sign-in will begin at around 8:10 am. Please arrive early to make sure the race can begin at 9 am. Please sign up and join the Facebook event below:

Club members volunteer their day to help put on the 6th annual 5K run/walk in 2016.
Tiger Awareness Week
Each year, all T4T clubs host a Tiger Awareness Week, aimed at raising awareness about tiger conservation on college campuses. This is a unified week to celebrate college students and their connection with their mascot, the tiger. Distinguished guests such as Tim Harrison (of Outreach for Animals), Judy Mills (author of Blood of the Tiger), and Asher Jay (famous artist and animal activist) are invited to speak to students on campus. Through the WEC, Bake Sales, and online donations we raised over $1000 this year. Our most buzzed about event is the "tiger skit." The tiger mascot is chased by a "poacher" around campus to bring attention to our disappearing mascot.
Students put up flags on Clemson's campus to represent the number of tigers left in the wild.
"T4T has given me the opportunity to show my passion for conservation of such a magnificent creature."
